About the Fellowship
This fellowship is focused on creating joyful teaching spaces for school teachers and a joyful, nurturing learning environment for their students.
A 6-month hybrid programme, UMANG supports school teachers to build joyful, inclusive, and emotionally rich classrooms. Fellows receive training, mentorship, and access to cutting-edge Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) tools — all free of cost (funded by the Flourishing Minds Fund, USA).

Who can apply: Teachers with 3+ years’ experience, fluent in Hindi & English, and passionate about SEL
Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the next round of personal interviews.
Mode: Hybrid (a combination of in-person and online sessions). In-person training sessions will be held at TISS, Mumbai campus.
Objectives of the Fellowship
- Increase teachers’ awareness of the role that emotional safety plays in great teaching and learning.
- Equip teachers with the skills and tools to manage their own wellbeing.
- Equip teachers with the skills and tools to manage student wellbeing.
- Support teachers to apply learnings from the fellowship to their classrooms through a project.
Application Process
A.Eligibility:
- Graduate/Bachelor’s degree in any subject
- Is currently teaching in a school (government/non-government) with over 3 years of teaching experience
- Is fluent in reading and writing English, and fluent in speaking Hindi
- Willing to commit to the entire fellowship duration (i.e., one year)
- Willing to apply learnings in their own classrooms with students, other teachers, and school stakeholders to transform schools into great SEL spaces
- For applicants located outside Mumbai: Willingness to travel to TISS Mumbai at own expense for in-person trainings

- Certificate on completion of the Fellowship (upon meeting attendance and other requirements of the training programme).
